Track record of delivery
Current Provision: Yorkshire Trust Projects
Current Services
Future Plans
Over the years Yorkshire Trust have delivered and supported a wide range of projects activities and training opportunities for the communities and Stakeholder Organisations whom they work with this has included working with young people to develop projects to engage and empower young people to influence decision making processes, supporting the development of the Carers Forum which has now evolved to go it alone/ be main stream funded.
In terms of training, our learners come from a range of different backgrounds with vastly differing skill levels, which therefore require flexible methods of programme delivery which meets the changing needs of these beneficiaries.
Most learners accessing Yorkshire Trust have very little relevant academic background, so our courses provide them the foundation for further education or employment.
Higher education and employment industry needs curtain standard from the learner, we try to update our courses so the learner is able to meet higher demands. For example if a learner comes in for ESOL ‘listen and respond' course and they do not have basic English skills, we try to help them in such a way that after they leave the Yorkshire Trust they should be able to go on to further education or employment. That was one of the reason organisation reviewed the current curriculum.
Some of the courses that have been delivered during 20056/20067 are: Microsoft Word courses (entry level, and level one and level 2) Using Computers (Entry Level and Level One); ESOL classes (Entry Level 1, 2 and 3); Advice & Guidance (regarding learner ability and motivations/career developments); Job Search (awareness support), Community Engagement (help people to go back to employment).
The Trust is well known for the wide range of advice, guidance and support which is offered to individuals of the local communities on such issues as: Welfare Benefits Advice, Form Completion and understanding, Domestic Bill Issues, Council Complaints and Appeals; etc.
We have in the past had a 60% to 40% ratio between our services and learning provision we offer. We have about 60% people come for Welfare Benefits Advice, Form Completion and understanding, Domestic Bill Issues, Council Complaints and Appeals, computer drop in etc. We always try to help the people as mush as we can and sometime from these services we were able to get learners as well. We encourage people who come for help because of language problem to take our ESOL course in order become more independent in their life.
