ESF Community Engagement Programme (Training for Employment)

Yorkshire Trust has successfully completed the job brokerage project working in partnership with RMBC and Chamber of Commerce. This ESF project will replace the job brokerage project, and will enable the organisations to continue to provide help and support to individuals and within local communities. Yorkshire Trust has been selected by VC TRAIN as one of seven Local Engagement Centres in Rotherham to provide these services.

The purpose of the project is to engage with many of the ‘harder to reach' workless people, many of whom are in receipt of Incapacity Benefits (IB) who are not aware of the opportunities available and have not engaged with Jobcentre Plus and who express an interest in returning to employment if their barriers to work can be overcome.

The service will require participants engaged through this outreach programme to be passed onto key support workers, with a different organisation and contracted by the LSC through a separate arrangement. The key worker will become the participants ‘buddy', through the journey from engagement to gaining a job and receiving support into sustained employment e.g. through Train to Gain-funded skills development.
