Background

Successfully in operation since 1993 the Trust was established by a group of local residents who set up the Trust to serve the immediate needs of the community. It has been a registered Company and Charity since 1996. We are committed to the principles of combating Social Inclusion, Poverty, Discrimination and meeting the needs of the Disadvantaged in the community. The Trust was founded under the name of "Kashmiri Educational and Cultural Development Trust" and in 2001 it changed its name to "Yorkshire Kashmiri Educational and Cultural Development Trust" to/a "Yorkshire Trust" to enable it to operate on a more wider area of coverage and having access to a wider funding base to improve, enlarge and enhance its services to the disadvantaged living in the community. By fully working in partnership with other voluntary/community groups in the South Yorkshire coalfield area, the Trust plans to continue its valuable work at the grass rots level.

Aims and Objectives

•  To improve understanding, tolerance and cohesion between the community with the removal of ignorance, prejudice and other barriers to develop harmonious social and economic relationships.

•  To provide education and training to individuals to enhance and improve their skills or acquire new skills in the course of their working lives and equip them to meet the changing needs within the labour market

•  To provide welfare advice and information raising awareness of individuals rights and of the services provided by local authorities and other agencies.
